Admissions

Founded in 1947, the Colorado School of Trades (CST) has been training Gunsmiths continually since its inception. As one of the nation’s largest gunsmithing schools, our program offers you the opportunity to learn an artisan craft as old as America itself.

If you’re interested in jobs in gunsmithing, consider this. There are over 260 million guns in the United States with less than 12,000 legitimate Gunsmiths available to work on them. That equates to over 21,000 guns per Gunsmith. That shows favorable job security in a marketable career like few others!

The Colorado School of Trades begins a new class the second Monday of each month. The Gunsmithing Program is 14 months of continuous training. Classes meet Monday through Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. for 1800 hours. Upon completion, the graduate will receive an Associate of Occupation Studies Degree in Gunsmithing and will be prepared to explore a wide variety of jobs in gunsmithing.

Prospective students interested in applying for admission to the school must:

  • Be at least 21 years of age or honorably discharged from the military.
  • Possess either a High School Diploma or a GED
  • Be physically and mentally capable of performing the projects and class work required for graduation
  • Be able to pass a background check.

Take your passion and turn it into a career by enrolling in our Denver gunsmithing school. Our admissions staff stands ready to help evaluate your level of desire and motivation to become a Professional Gunsmith, as well as your determination to succeed.
